My Love Affair With Sleep!!

Even as a kid, I never could sleep the night. My teenage years….well I got pretty good at sleeping in! Then as I collected responsibilities and worries my sleep began to dwindle.
I got to the point where I was getting 3 hours a night and the world just wasn’t making sense any more.
About 5 years ago I decided I needed to find a path that gave my brain enough peace that I could turn it off for a night’s sleep. Everywhere I turned, meditation seemed to pop up.
So I started exploring different methods of meditating that I had found on the web or in books. It all started with sitting still and doing nothing for 20 minutes. 20 minutes!?!?! I couldn’t do it for 5 minutes! So I started collecting different thoughts on the subject. Things like “find a focus” “just sit with it” “be kind to yourself” “don’t try too hard” “It’s okay to have thoughts”….
Next thing you know, I could “sit with it” comfortably for 10 minutes twice a day. Low and behold, I started sleeping!! Not only was I sleeping, I actually looked forward to bedtime. It was like “I Was Having a Love Affair With Sleep!!” ….and from that point on I was hooked.
I had no idea of all the benefits that would accompany this new practice….but at that moment, my world began to make sense.
